The Necromancer had perhaps the smallest dramatic changes, even though minor enhancements to Bone, Weaken skillsand Skeleton Magicians are notable D2R Items. The Rune Words may be as good as the most significant changes to class in regards to meta-shifting.
The new Rune Words for weapons, staves, claws and bows and crossbows, are sure to provide a wide array of build opportunities for players to test. Two new helm Rune Words that help with mana management, and the other an effective defensive rune to defend against both magical and martial attacks.
Beyond these two areas, in addition to the Horadric Cube recipes for upgrading set pieces, Blizzard has even more thrilling adjustments. 12 different set items are buffed to different levels.
Act III now requires players to smash the Compelling Orb to access the Durance of Hate rather than not complete the Khalim's Want quest. Additionally, sixteen alternative zones are now having their monster levels increased by 85 points in Hell difficulty to encourage players to complete them for rewards.
Let's just say that Diablo 2: Resurrected's 2.4 patch, as it is now, will provide a completely new experience compared to prior Diablo 2 updates. Blizzard obviously wants Diablo 2 fans to come back to experience something new. And, if the game proves popular, Blizzard may try even more experimental changes in the future.
The PTR update is scheduled to be released the 25th of January and full releases to follow after Blizzard has the ability to begin climbs up buy D2R ladder items.
